I always follow the numbers, I did not really want to post this level of detail…
I have to remain true to numbers and numbers tell me if everyone plays a good game the rewards will be better (Play the world, not each other). Because of this I am sharing my optimum play strategy for Boomtown. That way everyone has their chance.
If we all want to succeed, This is how I feel it should happen.
Nomads
The optimum play for nomads will be to contact some larger players who already have tools and need some hands.
You can get free tools this way and save a lot on progress.
A typical agreement with a larger player would look as follows:
I will give you free tools and a decent wage if you commit yourself to our building project for the next 2 days
The pay will generally be slightly lower than the market, but the starting tools are fairly expensive.
This is the quickest way for a nomad to get a start, You are generally bound for a short amount of time and can walk out with both tools as well as other benefits.
Boomtown is a play the world setting, if we do not work together we will likely all lose out.

To me this is the optimum play for any Nomad and it really helps on the overall objective of the world. So all Nomads, try and find some bigger players to help.
There are a few of us looking for assistance. And the terms are reasonable.
Late Game
You always want to prioritize Rail Construction. The PSS you earn will pay better than any job will providing we win. But if we have a common goal we will.
Secondly, Once you have some PSS, income is linked to Gold Extracted from the world, So always take the Gold Mining Jobs. Even if they are not paying as much, Your PSS should push up your per minute rates enough to make it worth while.
And if everyone does this. The PSS pool would be large enough to justify the focus long term.
Lot Owners
All Lot owners should play to barter resources as much as possible. Bypassing the markets and having some suppliers early on. We want to follow a resource based economy as much as possible among lot owners. We also have both Telegram and Discord groups to also help this along.
Priority 1:
The primary focus should be Rail,
Priority 2:
All players should also prioritize the Gold mining industry.
This help should be:
- Mining yourself
- Approaching gold mine owners and offering decent prices on materials
- Keeping your labor lower than Gold mines so that the server can reach maximum production.
Priority 3:
When the rail completes, you want to export low weight high value assets (Tools, Steel blocks and plates) Almost all other resources are just not worth exporting.
Timeline
Below is my suggested focus for the world
Week 1:
Lot Owners should get their buildings up
Nomads should help lot owners get going AND get some diplomas.
The following diplomas are essential:
Stone Mason Diploma (Needed for Rubble)
Metallurgist Diploma (Needed for Iron Rails)
This is also where we need to start really pushing Gold Mines.
Gold mines will earn around 2000 – 3 000 pgl (Maybe even 5000 – 6000 if you are a beast). Some would complain about this income, but for 2 nomads sharing this could be ideal.
Week 1 – 2:
This will be a push for Rail Level 1. Its important to get the Rail Level 1 up as early as possible because it will stabilize the markets and lower world prices to the point where Gold mining becomes more viable. If nobody mines gold, the rail does not matter anyways.
Once rail 1 finishes we can start importing, at this stage we will gain a lot of advantage over the world with things like:
Tools, Transport, Materials all coming in at around 26000 KG per day. This will drop the tool prices a lot. Making it easier to maintain production and from this point all mines should start running at max capacity. But it will not completely devalue the world economy.
Though this is the point where we have to completely deflate the whole economy. For the sake of mines
Week 3 – 5
This will be a push for Rail Level 2 while not neglecting the gold mines.
Aftermath
After the rail completes, we will have only 1 task: Maximize Gold mined.
If the rail completes, Mining Gold is the best common objective. So I feel everyone should put there focus on that single task.
The second priority is then high value low cost exporting (Steel and tools)
This will allow us to get some value off world that’s not tied to the Gold…
What we do want to avoid here is to not export low cost items (like Wood, stone, clay and coal).
The world has many different ways to play,
But I chose to try and play the world itself. And in that choice there’s a few users who might lose. Like the player who has a toolshed but all world tools are selling at low prices.
In all strategies someone will lose. My focus is to try and leave as much room for everyone to win as possible, and for that to realize we cannot focus our earning plans on the in game markets (by pumping tools and other materials.)
Any materials and tools tied to Gold mines I will likely sell alliance only at almost cost.
Because those industries already have a monetization model. Make it easy for users to get the mines going, I can gain via PSS.
I also want to note, I could be completely misreading everything. So take everything I said with a bit of salt. But try and plan a strategy around these kinds of events and what they would mean for the economy.
If we can control the prices and play the world this way, Almost everyone can get their cut from the world.
PSS Fund
The PSS fund will consist of:
50% of all Gold mined
Rent
Taxes
Certifications
Studies
So it will be wise to focus on this industry. I would say playing around PSS is the best play, with Gold being second. Reason Gold is second is because I will play to make Gold worth more than other industries. At least that is my goals.
A Word on Recruitment
For Boomtown we need to somewhat spam… We need to get a lot of news out there saying that there’s a new prospectors world with plenty of earning opportunity. Numbers is another thing that will push up the overall income. I am going to run my own recruitment campaign. I’m prepping that page after this leaving only room for the game link.
If we all gain a few referrals in, and they just play for 1 day, Each day they play is a day to the productivity of the world itself. And if they play well, They can earn, but so can the rest of the world.
I will mention again, I’m playing the world. And we need a lot of hands. I would not completely recommend newer users invest hard. But if they wish to understand Prospectors. Playing Boomtown, Day 1 to day 60. That will be how they learn.
I would say from an overreaching world focus, that covers things, if we all play with this same goal in mind we can all earn equally well.
So from my side I will play to crash the economy not to spite other but because the numbers makes most sense.
